Peace, our society and the resolution

Peace consists only five letters of the alphabet and very easy to articulate. However, equally hard to find it any corner of the world. Every big nation has been affected by the terrorism, almost every country in Asia, is affected by it. And, approximately every individual is affected by violence, which has devastated the humanity and human culture across the globe. Not only the terrorism is gulping us but also the human violence growing anxiously, which can be categorised against the community, women, children and particular section of the society.

If we look it into our nation’s context the picture is very shady, every citizen of the country needs to think and act over it. As per statistics compiled by the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau), it is observed that a total of 30,031 incidents of crime against SCs were reported in the country during 2007 or more than 82 crime every day. As per National commission for women, there were 13190 complaints registered against the violence with the women in 2008 in India. Are these two examples not enough for smacking on the face of educated and civilized society. It is a shame for the country, which taught the concept of “Vasudhaiv kutumbakum (The earth is like a family)” to the world. We left the harmony far behind and we don’t mind to be violent against our people, at least the aforesaid data verifies our nature.

In a different context the picture is gloomier. As per the statistics provided by the home ministry, 6982 terrorist incidents happened during 2004-2008 or more than 3 incident in north east states of the country, 8022 terrorist incidents in J&K or more than 4 incidents every day and 7806 naxalite incidents or more than 4 incidents happened every day during the same period across the country. This is more than enough to have a glance to let us know that how peaceful environment is around us or where we are heading towards.

It seems to be that there is a tremendous market, business and competition for being a powerful country, community, self claimed ideological and individual, which perhaps drives to be violent. We will have to stop such distorted mindset. Therefore to restore the peace, we are badly required to initiate diverse steps across the globe against any kind of violence immediately. At an individual level we will have to eliminate the barrier of discrimination and lead a society of harmony and brotherhood. We will have to increase the participation of elegant and honest representative in every sector, who can be a protagonist in the way of peaceful world. We need to advocate for providing opportunities in the conflict resolutions processes to incorporate women’s voices and representation with a view to preventing violence against them, protecting women and girls from gender based violence and equal participation in the development of the society, nation and world. We need to give the due consideration to restore the concept of “Vasudhaiv kutumbakum”, which can open the path of peace.

In the international arena too, lead nations are required to keep the focus towards the basic development of the human not for the nuclear power and weapon. It is evidently necessity of all nations across the globe to work together to reduce the military expenditure and increase the funds for education, sustainable development and the basic needs of the human. It is essential to take the steps for nuclear disarmament, which are with the nuclear weapons capabilities. They should go for the disarmament together and help the countries, which are still miles away from the basic amenities and the development. They should address and pass the resolution of non violence and influence the international society through disarmament and less destructive weapons. It also can be possible by the way of making the participation of different nations and different cultures and by emphasising on studies related to peace and harmony.

Let us encourage mild relations and pass the resolution of peace across the globe, irrespective of community, religion, race, place, cultural, gender and political affiliations.
